Zakia Sultana

Cultural Secretary

Zakia Sultana is a Socio- Linguist and currently working as a Freelance Linguist for a UK based organisation. She has a Master’s Degree in English Language and BA Hons in English Literature from Dhaka University. She has also obtained Master’s Degree in English Socio- Linguistics from University of Aberdeen UK. She started her career as an academic and served for Bangladesh Civil Service in the Education Cadre for ten years. She left Bangladesh in 2000 with family. She worked in various roles since she came to the UK. She worked as a Project Co-ordinator for an organisation in Aberdeen which promotes Cross Cultural Diversity and Equality. Alongside, she also worked as a Visiting Lecturer for ESOL in Aberdeen College. She moved to Glasgow and worked in a Consulting role and a Facilitator with a Glasgow based organisation which gave her the opportunity to work closely with diverse communities. MS. Sultana has a passion for Language and culture with an aim to promote diversity and equality.

She has been a member of Bangladesh Association Glasgow since 2015 and participated in various activities organised by BAG and performed in several cultural programmes by BAG.
