“Mother Tongue Other Tongue” by Scotland’s National Centre for Languages (with poetry sessions)

Angela is Chair of the Scottish Wider Engagement Network for languages, which aims to change attitudes in wider society by demonstrating the benefits of language skills and intercultural agility across all sectors. She is also a committee member of the Scottish Government's 'New Scots Integration Strategy' for refugees and asylum seekers. Angela is currently undertaking research into multilingualism and multiculturalism in Scotland as part of her PhD studies.
Autumn 2018 will see the fifth year of Mother Tongue Other Tongue (MTOT) in Scotland. This exciting multilingual poetry project celebrates linguistic and cultural diversity through creative writing, and showcases the many languages which are spoken and learned by young people in school and at home. Pupils from P1-S6 to participate as well as bilinguals and those studying languages beyond school. In 2017/18 over 100 entries were submitted from across Scotland in 29 different languages.
