Poetry and song from Maryhill Integration Network

Maryhill Integration network brings refugee, migrant and local communities together through, art, social, cultural and educational groups and projects. Poetry and song empowers people to share their stories of pain, loss and love. It gives people a voice and a chance to share languages and the richness of their cultures with the Scottish people. It allows Scotland to see all the glory these people have in their spirit and soul. “Even though the authorities can end their right to be here, no one can stop them singing.” Remijze Sherifi, director of Maryhill Integration Network.

Saffanna Al Jbawi is a former Arabic language teacher at Jasim Elementary School , Jasim and is a Refugee from Syria. Qëndresa Bajrami, is a student at Glasgow Clyde College, Langside Campus, studying Acting and performance, and will be singing a very old song of Albanians exiled in Sicily and Calabria (Italy) in the 15th century : they used to sing and still sing “Moj e bukurua More”
